The Hollmann Salon, opened at the end of 2006, is already a hot topic, and not just in and around Vienna. With his concept of a "semi-public space”, owner Robert Hollmann has given the former Cistercian monastery in the Heiligenkreuzhof a stylish yet surprising new look. Up to 28 guests can enjoy lunch or dinner over two long tables. "Every guest should feel like they've been invited to a close friend's house to eat," says the owner, explaining his idea. Food is cooked in the open living / kitchen area, right before the guests' eyes.
The centerpiece and eyecatcher of the Hollmann kitchen living room is the cooking area, which has been fitted out by bulthaup with system 20. The bulthaup kitchen worktop blends harmoniously into the overall picture. Mobile system 20 elements provide the flexibility needed without compromising in any way in terms of the convenience of a high-quality kitchen. Cool-looking stainless steel surfaces, flawless functionality and the paring-down of features to the bare essentials contrast beautifully in the Hollmann Salon with fanciful crystal chandeliers, rounded-arch architecture and warm, bright wooden furniture.
As well as the restaurant concept therefore, guests are also very impressed by the carefully planned design of the Hollmann Salon: There is a popular exhibition room filled with selected products from renowned brands. Leading design and furniture companies appreciate this and cooperate with the design-mad restaurateur. The result is spaces that satisfy even the most discerning demands and offer an atmosphere of hospitality and personal intimacy where it is easy to fall into conversation with other guests.
The impetus for the new concept came partly from the guests of Robert Hollmann's "Hollmann Beletage" hotel in Vienna. They repeatedly asked him where he had obtained the carefully-selected designer pieces in the hotel rooms. So why not create a special showroom devoted to these much sought-after objects, thought Hollmann, seizing the opportunity to create just such an unusual presentation platform.
If you are ever visiting Vienna, make a trip to see the Hollmann Salon for yourself. The multi-award-winning chef Alfred Stadler spoils guests at the Salon with Austrian dishes which he adds a little something to with exotic herbs and ingredients. Reservations are recommended.
